The Legacy Event Center sits at a crossroads of urban convenience and wide open spaces, located just 15 minutes north of Salt Lake City. Its four expansive event areas cater to gatherings of all sizes and types, including sporting events, trade conventions, and parties.
The centerpiece of this campus is the grand arena, a sprawling reception space for large community events. Spanning 38,000 square feet with 2,200 permanent seats, and the ability to accommodate additional temporary seating, this venue offers the infrastructure required for exceptionally large and complex events. After years of heavy community use primarily as a horse arena, the building needed a thoughtful update to allow it to shift focus towards youth sports
Our team was entrusted with the task of revamping the integral elements within the arena. To provide a modern, multipurpose foundation, we selected a polished concrete floor to replace the original stone tiles. The outdated tiles proved unsuitable for sporting events outside of horse racing due to their texture, often necessitating the use of temporary flooring.
The new concrete floor not only elevated the arena's appearance but also ensured the space could be used as-is, while still providing compatibility with a wide range of temporary sport flooring options. This compatibility allowed us to tailor sport flooring solutions to specific sporting needs, from basketball courts to wrestling mats, all easily installable on the new concrete surface. The seamless integration provided greater flexibility.
Within the vast space, we seized the opportunity to enhance the structural concrete columns with custom protective wraps. These wraps both protected the columns from further wear and tear. They also unified the branding throughout the space while ensuring durability despite heavy usage.
Our final focus was on accessibility. The arena needed updated stairs and ADA ramps to ensure easy access for the entire community. Formed from familiar concrete, these features seamlessly integrated with the flooring, creating a sense of unity and providing intuitive wayfinding.
